Raise The Bar

PrintRaise The Bar is a patron-safety training program for staff who work in bars, restaurants, and breweries who are committed to increasing awareness around the concept of bystander intervention. Organizations that are Raise The Bar members are expressing their organizational commitment to decreasing sexual violence in our community by acknowledging we all have a role to play when it comes to ending sexual violence.

While most instances of sexual violence do not take place in bars, restaurants, and breweries, a staggering 83% of sexual assaults involve alcohol use by either or both the victim or perpetrator. Bar, restaurant, and brewery staff who are well-educated on the concepts of sexual assault, consent, and bystander intervention are better equipped to intervene in unsafe situations that might lead to sexual assault.

Raise The Bar organizations make a values statement with their participation, commit to creating safe and inclusive environments in which all and any patron can feel safe, and all staff participate in a two-hour intensive bystander intervention training program.
